Flooring contractor services in Seaside, CA

Seaside Sterling Epoxy Floors is a flooring contractor in Seaside, CA, with 16 services that turn stained, dusty or cracked concrete into floors that clean up easily and hold up to daily use. Garages are what we're best known for, but we also work on shops, basements, patios and pool decks. What moves the price is mostly the slab itself, how big it is, how many cracks or old coatings we have to grind out, and which product you pick. The schedule turns on that same prep and on how long the coating needs before you can use the floor again. Your written estimate lays all of that out for your floor.

  • Glossy epoxy floor with dense tan, brown, white, and black flakes reflects light in a room with a block wall.

    Epoxy Floor Coatings

Epoxy is a two-part coating that bonds to ground concrete and dries hard and glossy, a good fit for busy garages, workshops and basements.

  • A reflective gray marbled epoxy floor spans a large, empty room with beige walls and bright ceiling lights.

Commercial & Industrial Epoxy Floor Coatings

Does your shop or warehouse floor see forklifts, carts and spills? We lay down heavier epoxy systems built for that traffic and easy to clean.

  • Glossy gray-speckled coating covers an empty garage floor, with the open doors revealing houses and a parked SUV outside.

    Garage Floor Coatings

Oil stains, dust and peeling paint? We grind the slab, fill the cracks and coat your garage floor so it wipes clean and stands up to hot tires.

  • A glossy blue-gray flake-coated garage floor beneath shelves of trophies and cabinets.

    Polyaspartic Floor Coatings

Polyaspartic is a fast-curing coating, often the topcoat over epoxy, for homeowners who want their garage back sooner and a finish that holds its color in sun.

  • Highly reflective metallic epoxy flooring swirls with silver, white, and vivid blue beneath reflections of windows and lights.

    Metallic Epoxy Flooring

We pour metallic epoxy with swirls of pearly pigment that look a bit like marble, a showpiece floor for living spaces, home gyms and showrooms.

  • Light gray flake-finish floor coating fills a garage with blue-gray walls, a white door, and a water heater.

    Urethane Cement Flooring

What floor holds up to hot water, grease and heavy washdowns? Urethane cement, a thick troweled system we put down in commercial kitchens, breweries and food plants.

  • Purple and red-speckled coating covers a garage floor with unfinished drywall and an open overhead door.

    Polished Concrete Flooring

We grind your slab with finer and finer diamonds until it shines, so homes and shops get a hard floor with no coating to peel.

  • Wet-looking gray stained concrete patio with rectangular scoring beside a white-sided house.

    Stained Concrete Flooring

Acid and water-based stains soak into concrete for rich, mottled color, a good choice when you want warmth on a patio or living-room slab without a thick coating.

  • Gray-speckled epoxy coating covers an empty two-car garage floor beneath two closed overhead doors.

    Terrazzo Flooring

We install epoxy terrazzo, chips of marble or glass set in resin and ground smooth, for lobbies, entryways and homeowners who want a one-of-a-kind floor.

  • A bright garage with a glossy blue-gray flake concrete overlay floor and a closed sectional garage door.

    Basement Flooring

A bare basement slab can become a real room. We test it for moisture first, then pick the coating or overlay that suits it.

  • Close view of a raised gray flake epoxy garage floor coating meeting an outdoor concrete driveway.

    Concrete Grinding & Surface Preparation

Every floor we do starts here, grinding off old sealer, glue and the weak top skin of the slab so your coating has something to grab.

  • An empty room with a smooth, light gray speckled epoxy floor and an open doorway.

    Concrete Sealing

A penetrating or film-forming sealer helps driveways, patios and garage floors shrug off stains and water, a simple option when the concrete itself is still sound.

  • A light speckled concrete overlay with dark border strips covers a sunlit outdoor patio.

    Concrete Resurfacing & Overlays

Is your concrete worn, pitted or patched but still solid underneath? A cement overlay gives it a fresh surface without the cost and mess of tearing it out.

  • A red sports car stands on a glossy black-and-gray flake epoxy garage floor.

    Self-Leveling Concrete & Overlays

Self-leveling concrete flows out flat over dips and uneven slabs, giving tile, wood, vinyl or a coating a level base to sit on.

  • A screened pool area features a turquoise swimming pool surrounded by pale concrete decking and a wooded view.

    Pool Deck Coatings & Resurfacing

Is your pool deck cracked, faded or slick? We repair the concrete and resurface it with a textured coating that gives wet feet better grip.

  • Classic cars sit in a garage with a gray speckled floor coating and a contrasting light-colored section.

    Concrete Floor Stripping & Removal

Before anything new goes down, the old has to come off. We strip peeling epoxy, paint, tile glue and old sealers down to clean concrete.

Why homeowners and shop owners hire us

A coated floor is only as good as the work you can't see once it's done. Here's how we handle the parts that decide whether your floor lasts, and how we treat your home along the way.

  • Prep comes before any coating

When a coating peels, the problem is usually underneath it. That's why our crew grinds and repairs the slab before anything goes on, and why I'd rather tell you your slab isn't ready yet than sell you a pretty floor that starts peeling.

  • We'll say when simpler works

Not every floor needs the full system. If a crack repair, a fresh sealer or a simpler coating makes more sense for how you use the space, we'll tell you so, even when it means a smaller job for us.

  • Dust captured, gutters kept clean

Grinding concrete makes dust and washing it makes a gray slurry, so we capture the dust as we grind and keep wash water out of the gutters. Your house and your street stay clean while we work. Ready to talk it over? Call (831) 204-4050.

Our process from first call to finished floor

Here's what happens after you reach out, so you know who you'll be talking to and what you'll have in hand before anything gets ground or coated.

  1. Step 01

    Call or send the form

Call (831) 204-4050 or fill out our contact form and tell us a little about the floor, the space and how you use it. We reply within one business day and set up a time for me to come out and see it in person.

  2. Step 02

I check the floor and write it up

I come out myself, check the concrete for moisture and cracks, and ask how you actually use the space, because a two-car garage and a weld shop need different floors. Then you get a free written estimate that spells out the prep, the product and how long the floor stays out of use, with no obligation.

  3. Step 03

We prep and put the floor down

On install day our crew does the prep first, grinding the slab and repairing cracks, because that's what the coating holds on to. Then we put the floor down coat by coat, following the product's instructions, and keep the work area closed off so nothing lands in a fresh coat.

  4. Step 04

    We walk it with you

When the floor's down, we walk it together so you can see the finish up close and ask about anything that catches your eye. I'll go over how to care for it, what to clean it with and when you can start using the space again for the product we put down.

Epoxy, polyaspartic, polished, stained, it's a lot of choices for one slab. I'm happy to keep answering questions until the plan makes sense to you, and I'll tell you why each step matters for your floor.

How I ended up in concrete floors

I spent years at a desk in an office job before I figured out I wanted to work with my hands, and I learned concrete floors as a helper on grinding and coating crews, which is where I saw that a coating is only as good as the slab under it. In 2023 I started Seaside Sterling Epoxy Floors here in Seaside as a flooring contractor, and we're licensed and insured. Today we offer 16 services and have pages for 11 cities around Monterey Bay and inland, and we work in cities beyond those too. You can read more of the story on our about page.

Flooring questions we hear in Seaside

How much does an epoxy garage floor cost in Seaside?

The price depends on the size of your garage, the shape your concrete is in and the coating system you choose, so I price it after seeing the floor. Cracks, old paint or sealer and moisture all add prep, and prep is most of the work. A plain sealer costs less than a full multi-coat system, and I'll tell you if the simpler one fits.

Why do epoxy floor quotes vary so much between contractors?

Quotes usually differ because of how much prep is included, and prep is where cheap floors cut corners. A bid that skips grinding or crack repair can look like a deal, but that's the floor that tends to peel. Compare what each bid says about prep and product, not just the bottom line.

How long does it take to put in a garage floor coating?

It depends on how much prep your slab needs and which coating goes down, because some products cure faster than others. A clean, sound slab goes quicker than one with old coatings or a lot of cracks to fix. Your estimate tells you how long the floor stays out of use, so you can plan around it.

Does a flooring contractor need a license in California?

Usually yes, because the California Contractors State License Board requires a license when a job's labor and materials total $1,000 or more, or when it needs a building permit or uses other workers. A bigger job can't be split into smaller contracts to stay under that $1,000 line. Ask any contractor you're considering about their state license before you sign.

Do I need to empty my garage before you coat the floor?

Yes, the floor has to be clear before we start, because we grind and coat wall to wall and anything left behind leaves a bare spot. We'll talk through what needs to move at the estimate, and at the walkthrough I'll tell you when it's safe to bring things back.

Do you guarantee your epoxy floor work?

Yes, every job we do is backed by our satisfaction guarantee. The best protection for a floor is still the prep, which is why we put so much into the part you'll never see once it's coated.

Is polyaspartic better than epoxy for a garage floor?

Neither one wins everywhere, because they do different jobs. Epoxy builds a thick, tough base, and polyaspartic cures faster and stands up better to sunlight, so a lot of garage floors use both, epoxy underneath and polyaspartic on top. I'll recommend one after I see your slab and hear how you use the space.

Do I need a permit for a new garage floor in Seaside?

Check with the city first, because Seaside's Building & Code Enforcement Department recommends asking it before any building project or major repair. Its Permits & Inspections counter is in City Hall. Before we start, we check with the local building office and tell you what they said, and if your job needs a permit, we handle the paperwork with you.
